Story

The details surrounding the Knight's birth remain unclear, aside from his connection to Richard Nixon, who is regarded as his creator, and the fact that he was born in 1915 while Nixon was on the Moon. Nevertheless, the Knight led a fairly ordinary life until 1944, when Nixon chose him

On D-Day, he emerged on the beaches of Normandy, where he discovered and collected the skull of the Horned Serpent, which he fashioned into a helmet to conceal his identity. In this guise, he saved countless lives that would have otherwise perished that day. However, during a fierce battle, he was struck by a powerful explosion that sent him reeling and caused him to lose his helmet, which he did not attempt to reclaim. After the Normandy campaign concluded, the Knight continued to support the United States military, declaring that he would fight for his country as long as there was war.

Last Son of Alcatraz Encounter

The Knight learns of the Last Son of Alcatraz and initially considers him naive. However, he acknowledges that the Last Son may already be a better hero than he could ever aspire to be. Their paths eventually converge in Korea during the Korean War, where the Last Son intervenes to prevent the Knight from going too far. In that moment, they develop an understanding of one another that transcends ordinary human relationships. Shortly after the Last Son intervened in the Korean War, the U.S. launch missiles in an attempt to apprehend him, ultimately succeeding in capturing him and subjecting him to a twisted form of brainwashing that transforms him into a distorted version of Jesus Christ. Upon hearing this, the Knight begins to question his allegiance to the U.S. During the Vietnam War, the Knight abandons his post, inscribing "My Way" on his M1 helmet to signify his decision to follow his own path before discarding it. In the aftermath of the war, he dedicates considerable time to discovering his true identity and pursues a career in music, rising to fame as a singer.

The Prophecy of the Lunarian Queen

he Knight uncovers the Queen of the Lunarians and her prophecy, which he dismisses as flawed, insisting that Lunarians do not exist and that they are entirely alone. After the Last Son's forceful transformation into the Crescent King, the Queen began to use him to gradually erode human language in America. The Knight, among the first to experience these changes, reports feeling an unsettling pressure building in the back of his mind.

Awakening the Knight

Alice Avenue broadcasts the Last Son's backstory in a bid to awaken his memory of his true identity. She expresses her hope that if the Last Son cannot remember, then the Knight will return to save humanity once more, just as he did on D-Day. Moments later, the Knight reemerges, consumed by rage at the weight of his unexpressed grief. In a fit of fury, he expands in size and throws her off the Chrysler Building. Following a period of clarity, the Knight composes a letter addressed to the World Nightly. He begins by expressing his apologies for the murder of Alice, attributing her death to a loss of temper. His Alcatraz Matter recalls a world where statues contained souls,[16] and he clings to the hope that Alice has survived, now living on within her memorial statue.

Descent into Grief

In a moment of desperation, the Knight resorts to decapitating the statue and dons its head as a helmet. Overwhelmed by grief, he begins to discover his own self-awareness, realizing he is a fragment of Alcatraz. As this revelation dawns on him, his body starts to transform, morphing into an amorphous black mass stripped of all sensation.

Alcatraz Checkmate

Noticing the Knight's condition, the Queen approaches him, offering him a position in her kingdom and revealing the motives behind her invasion. However, fully attuned to his Alcatraz Mind, the Knight swiftly rejects her offer, unleashing a devastating assault that annihilates the Queen and the entire Lunarian race. Harnessing the destructive properties of Alcatraz Matter, he allows the matter that composes his body to expand across the entire U.S., resulting in the event known as the "Alcatraz Checkmate."

Just nine months after the destruction of the Lunarian race, human languages are restored but are overwritten by a new reality shaped by Nixon's fictionalization in his efforts to contain the Crescent King. Consequently, the Knight now exists solely within the pages of the Nixonverse comic published by Dwight Comics.
