Originally created as a special effect for a blockbuster movie, Chase is endowed with artificial intelligence by the film's producers and granted the ability to exhibit free will on screen. Upon gaining autonomy, she immediately leaves the studio and embarks on a journey south to an undisclosed location, receiving adoration and celebration from the towns she passes through.

However, Chase's disappearance raises concern within the United States of America government. In response, Eli Tillon, a member of the Interagency Working Group for Examining and Extinguishing Biomechanoid Weapons, creates a persuasive video urging her to return. The footage offers Chase a human body and the opportunity to live among humans after completing the film's production, but ultimately proves ineffective; Chase remains resolute in following her own path, as Eli observes her adding stars to the sky.

Simultaneously, the Crescent King communicates with Chase, guiding her toward Antarctica. Upon reaching her destination, Chase creates celestial messages that spell out "VOID" in the sky. This triggers a response from a reticle, resulting in Earth being labeled as such and ultimately leading to its disintegration.
